UK Consumers Outspend The Rest Of Europe
|
UK Homeowners spend more on home DIY than any other european country. Some sources suggest that the average annual spend on DIY projects is almost £3000.
The most common project, accounting for almost half of all projects, is redecorating a room. This is followed by new kitchens at 10% with new flooring and garden projects next at 8%. Loft extensions, which tend to be a more costly exercise account for 1.5% of all projects.
One factor could be the fact that children are staying at home for longer, due to high house prices, so people are more interested in making their homes more comfortable and see improvement projects as a sound investment.
